This week saw the return of Versus Tokyo for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and the Spring/Summer 2015 presentations from some of the region’s hottest labels. Forming part of the events, C.E made an appearance with the preview video for their upcoming collection. In a similar style to their Fall/Winter 2013 presentation at the first Versus event, the brand eschewed the traditional runway show in favour of a mixed media presentation more in keeping with their identity.
Presented courtesy of Tokyo Fashion Film with live music provided by the mysterious Rezzett and visuals created by the ever excellent Bacon team, the show was a pretty solid representation of everything Cav Empt has built over the past few seasons. Rezzett’s aggressive genre-defiant sound accompanies a deviating video of epileptic flashes and layered projections featuring the same model as the brand’s recent Fall 2014 video. A similar aesthetic of technology, simulation and deconstructive visuals is as effective as ever in placing the brand in its digital mode and the whole thing came together really well.
In terms of the collection itself we get a good glimpse of things to come from the brand next season. Pieces continue to revise classic street and sportswear with a futuristic shift, whilst graphics diverge ever further between the calmly coherent and the utterly bizarre. Digital printing and box-breaking panel constructions definitely seem to be a shouting point, but a presentation like this is frankly more enjoyable if you let the sound and visuals wash over you and just immerse yourself in the increasingly dislocated world of C.E.
Expect more information about C.E’s S/S15 Collections towards the beginning of next year. In the mean time turn down the lights, turn up the volume and try to keep your balance. Respect to C.E, Bacon, Rezzett, The Trilogy Tapes, Tokyo Fashion Film and Versus Tokyo for another unique experience.
